A series of gifted kinetic sculptures made for friends of mine.
They visualise a situation the the recipient is going through. Whether that be an emotion or a process or just something that might benefit from viewing from a different (abstract) perspective.
Struggle #1
Kinetic sand on a sea-saw that can be tilted back and forth to provide a slow, abstract egg-timer. Removing the pressure involved in the passage of time. The sand makes it way down the slope without hurrying or intentionally slowing. It gets there when it’s meant to. No sooner or later.

Struggle #2
You might not know how long it will take you to get through something. Or what it will look like as you do, or even how it will look afterwards. But you will get through it.
Stretchy transparent “science putty” is placed over a grid of copper. Slowly forming to the gaps and eventually oozing through to the ground below. The whole piece can then be inverted to repeat the process.
Made from entirely recycled/repurposed materials (apart from the science putty). This includes found copper pipe, earthing cable and bodies from disposable vapes.
